The Level System is a method designed to allow the residents more privileges in return for increasingly responsible behavior. It helps the residents to realize that privileges and responsibilities go hand-in-hand. In addition, it encourages strides toward independent living.
This Level System provides clear cut direction to both staff and residents on how to advance in the program at Brookwood and to know what behaviors are expected of the residents. The Level System at Brookwood is divided into eight (8) levels and allows the resident to move into the appropriate level when she has mastered the required responsible behaviors. The resident may move up or down depending on her behavior. Those behaving irresponsibly and continuing to disobey house rules, will move down a level until they can display appropriate behaviors; while those showing more responsibility may advance to the next level after completing the minimum period of time allotted.
The Intake Level is for new residents entering Brookwood and is for the purpose of orientation.
Levels 4, 5 and 6 are the discharge levels for those residents who exhibit a great deal of responsibility and are conscientiously preparing for independent living. Those residents in the discharge levels are not necessarily leaving Brookwood immediately, but are showing responsible preparation for the day when they will be on their own.
The Disciplinary Level, or D Level, is the lowest possible level and is assigned to those who are extremely irresponsible and/or violate the first nine (9) rules on the rule sheet.
